Dawn is one of the most popular themes for Shopify sellers.
Although it includes a search function, it can only look through products and blog posts. Many sellers, however, want their customers to be able to search for files, documents, and PDFs as well.
To add a file search bar to your Shopify store using the Dawn theme, you can use the Shopify app File Search Bar & Library MP.
This app works with Shopify’s file storage system. You can select unlimited files from your Shopify storage and add them to the file directory widget created by the app. Only the files added to this directory will be searchable, giving you control over which files are publicly downloadable and which are not.
1. Upload the files to Shopify file storage
The File Search Bar & Library MP app is built on top of the default Shopify file storage, so you can take advantage of Shopify’s storage infrastructure.
To begin, go to your Shopify Admin > Content > File; and upload your files here.

2. Add the files to the embedded file directory of our app
In Shopify admin, go to Apps and open our app File Search Bar & Library MP.
Click on “Add files”. This would trigger a pop up where you will see all the files you have uploaded to Shopify storage.
Select files from the popup and click Add files.
3. Embed the file search and directory widget
Once you have added the files to the file search widget, follow the instruction on the screen to embed the file search and directory widget into your Shopify either using embed code or App Block.
The search would only apply to the files added to the embedded widget.
